Smoke Season is an indie rock from CA, formed by Jason Rosen and  Gabrielle Wortman. The duo together create a very unique sound of electric guitars and haunting vocals, the two like to describe their music as “Electro Soul with a hint of whiskey” according to their Facebook page.

Jason Rosen and Gabrielle Wortman met while sharing recording space in a studio in LA when they were recording for other projects, they clicked with each other and soon began writing music together. In March of 2013 they released their first EP titled “Signals,” which included their single  “Soleil.” Soleil can be described as a dreamy ballet, with Gabrielle’s soft soothing vocals, combined with Jason’s trippy guitars and harmonizing  vocals the pair can make you fall into a psychedelic trance.

Since then they have released another EP titled “Hot Coals Cold Souls,” where the have made two music videos off of both singles. The first   “Badlands” which gives off an old western vibe and, their second single “Opaque” makes you feel like you are transported to another dimension.

Fast forward to 2015 they come out with their hit single “Bees” which shows off Gabrielle’s power house vocals. With over 16,000 fans on Facebook, a huge following on Twitter, numerous TV appearances at local music stations in LA, headlining their own tours, and playing a number of music festivals on the West and East Coast. Smoke Season is without a doubt smoking up the music scene.

Killers by: Ryan Burnett & The Vanguards

Ryan Burnett and The Vanguards, announce the release of debut single, Killers, out 30th October with Ryan as the face of the new Guitar Hero Live game.

Ryan moved from Manchester to Brighton at the age of 17 on receiving a scholarship to study music. He went on to form and play in several bands, recording albums and touring all over the world with previous band The Crave. Performance highlights included opening two sell-out Hammersmith Apollo shows, Rock Am Ring and three tours of the US.

After a period in Nashville, writing and working on new material, and realising that a solo career was not the direction for him, singer-songwriter Ryan formed The Vanguards with CJ Evans, Dan Logan and Ben Johnsen.  The band’s music has been compared to Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Kodaline, but The Vanguards are set on printing their own contemporary stamp on a popular sound. The band is backed by Metropolis Studios Label team, with the track produced and mixed by Guy Chambers’ right hand man Paul Stanborough (Katie MeluaKylieINXS), and mastered by Mazen Murad (The Rolling StonesMuseBjörk).

Ryan was chosen to front the new Guitar Hero Live game, released earlier this month, but this is a great time to highlight Ryan and the band, being all about the music and performing live as often as possible. The band will next perform live on 10 November at Paper Dress Vintage Boutique and then on 30 November at the Sebright Arms. For details of all upcoming gigs, keep an eye on the website.

The Vanguards released their debut single to coincide with the Guitar Hero Live launch, with ‘Killers’ out on 30th October 2015.  Impact date is 4th December 2015.

”Music is often like a time capsule. Listening to different records may remind us of specific place in time. It can often take you back to a particular moment in your life or paint a picture of events that you may not have actually experienced–yet feel as if you have. Our last three records all painted a picture of us at a certain time. Each of the three have allowed us to evolve into the band we are today by building on the past while looking ahead. Our latest EP, New Era, takes much of what we have done in the past with live instrumentation, sampling, and studio production and fuses the techniques together in a unified concept.” – Zoogma
